IBPA Publishing University 2019 Call for Speakers

IBPA Publishing University 2019 is scheduled for April 5-6, 2019 (with preconference sessions on April 4th) in Chicago, Illinois. The deadline to submit an IBPA Publishing University 2019 speaker proposal is October 1, 2018. To be fair to all, this deadline will not be extended.

IBPA Publishing University 2018 Speaker Bios

IBPA is thrilled to announce the keynote speaker for Publishing University 2018! Join us for a fun and inspiring discussion about making the most of ambition and happiness with Daniel Lerner, Psychology Professor, New York University and Author, U Thrive.

Cutting edge science now shows that when we pursue our passions in the correct way, we can realize the highest levels of personal and professional success.

In his Publishing University keynote address, Daniel Lerner defines two types of passion: harmonious and obsessive. When you’re harmoniously passionate, you not only love what you do, but you are more focused, energetic, and productive, and live a far more fulfilling life. Conversely, obsessive passions are marked by a compulsive, dogged pursuit of achievement, leading to guilt, shame, pessimism, unhappiness, and, far too often, early burnout.

Drawing on a diverse cast of iconic cultural figures—from Richard Branson to Ellen DeGeneres, Nelson Mandela to Kanye West—Daniel illuminates the difference between healthy and dangerous passions, how and why to ignite, explore, and stoke your healthy ones, and even how to find passion in work that you may have given up as passionless long ago. And if you’ve fallen into patterns of blind obsession, Daniel helps you transition out. Ultimately, this keynote is a fiery, fun, and practical primer on how to live a successfully passionate (and passionately successful!) life.

As instructor of the ever-popular NYU course, “The Science of Happiness,” and as author of U Thrive: How to Succeed in College (and Life), DANIEL LERNER is using positive psychology to help people lead happy lives. Using cutting-edge research into how executives, artists, and athletes overcome anxiety, Daniel is teaching us to achieve well-being, rediscover our core strengths, and define success—on our own terms.

Preorder a copy of Daniel's book U Thrive for him to sign onsite. Order via the link below, then pick up your book onsite. We're not able to ship books to you directly.
